    Transdev Services, Inc., Provider of National Mobility Solutions, is Seeking a Motivated Professional with Litigated Liability Claims Experience.                 

    Liability Claim Specialist 

    This role provides the opportunity to work with our operations as well as seasoned examiners from our Third-Party Administrators. You will work collaboratively with our internal and external teams to oversee and authorize fair, timely settlements on litigated claims. 

    Transdev Services, Inc. provides solutions for a myriad of clients, who need a business partner that will meet their transportation related needs. We provide bus services for many major municipalities along with paratransit services, streetcars and even Autonomous Vehicles! Our Corporate Office is full of long-time team members working in various capacities to support our important ground operations. 

    This role is for an applicant having at least 5 years litigated liability claims administration experience. Those who are self-starters, natural problem solvers and of an investigative mind will find this to be a uniquely satisfying position. 

    You will be one of two new Liability Claims Specialists, joining a team including the Director of Liability Claims and Deputy General Counsel of Litigation. 

    The Ideal Applicant:

    • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Is well organized and able to plan and execute on individual and team tasks and goals 

    • Can effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word and Power Point

    • Can learn and utilize effectively, new applications and systems

    • Understands legal facts, legal processes and settlement values.

    • Comprehends facts of given legal cases and can discuss strategies with examiner, attorney and inside team in order to mitigate costs. 

    • Ability to regularly attend and negotiate in mediations or settlement conferences 

    • Bachelor’s Degree is required with extensive knowledge of litigation processes, procedures and has a basic understanding of the law as that relates to auto accident matters.  A paralegal background or degree in legal studies would be helpful.  

    Daily Activities May Include Some or All of the Following, and May Include Other Activities as Needed:

    • Oversee of an inventory of litigated claims to include high profile cases, moving claims to best possible outcome with our Third-Party Administrator partners and attorneys

    • Oversee defense counsel work product

    • Interact with outside defense counsel and act as primary liaison between outside defense counsel and internal management team.

    • Review and present complex claims issues to management team when requested

    • Utilize resources for coverage questions when needed

    • Analyze and interpret complex claim issues.

    • Utilize attorney and examiner reports, complete concise, accurate and constructive written requests for authority above given level

    • identify subrogation potential and communicate same to examiner

    • Assist with investigation by gathering information to help examiner determine the exposure on the claim. 

    • Discuss liability assessment with examiners and provide approval to deny claims where there is no liability assessed to Transdev

    • Oversee appropriateness of claim reserves and their adequacy throughout the life of the claim.

    • Respond to reserve requests, providing proper authority to examiners up to given level of authority

    • Oversee the litigation process of cases; ensuring timely and cost-effective claims resolution.

    • Provide authority for vendor referrals for additional investigation, expert opinions and/or litigation management when appropriate.

    • Use appropriate cost containment techniques, such as recommending early settlement to reduce overall cost of claims for Transdev.

    • Respond to examiners, attorneys and Transdev operations’ clients in a professional and timely manner.

    • Communicate about claim activity with the examiners, providing direction in a courteous manner.

    • Attend quarterly round table reviews with our TPA and participate in annual audit of TPA files

    • Receive Service of Process and makes attorney assignment timely

    • Attend bi-weekly roundtable reviews, prepared to discuss problematic claims with team lead and internal counsel. 

    Our office is located in the suburbs, near York Town Center in Lombard, IL, so no city traffic in the vicinity.  Covered parking is available as well as a gym and a very good café in the building. 401K is available as well as is Health, Dental, Vision and additional optional coverages.
