    Position Overview

    Navistar is currently seeking a Risk Manager to join our team at our corporate headquarters in Lisle, IL! 

    The Risk Manager will assist the Director of Risk Management and Senior Risk Manager in the development and implementation of the global insurance programs.


    Support Director of Risk Management and Senior Risk Manager in the following duties:

    • Coordinate collection of exposure data from internal sources for insurance programs, including General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Auto Liability, Umbrella/Excess Liability, Foreign Liability, First-Party Property insurance coverage including Business Interruption, Boiler & Machinery, Directors & Officers Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Aviation, Marine and Transit for all domestic and foreign locations
    • Assist with placement of all insurance programs
    • Coordinate coverages with corporate parent’s Risk Management team
    • Prepare the analysis of risk financing strategies, retention levels and risk transfer limits
    • Supervise third party claims administrator in handling all Auto and General Liability claims; provide authority to adjusters; direct funding for claims payments for all claims including payments for Workers’ Compensation claims
    • Work with Legal Department to resolve difficult claims involving coverage interpretation
    • Act as liaison between property insurer and locations to eliminate property recommendations and ensure continued good housekeeping to reduce risk of property; manage property claims that may arise
    • Manage outgoing certificate process; manage unique customer certificate requests
    • Process surety bond requests; maintain bond schedule
    • Process insurance premium invoices for payment
    • Update and maintain schedules of insurance
    • Maintain procedures manual
    • Review policy documentation to ensure accuracy; coordinate with broker and insurance companies, as appropriate, to resolve documentation issues
    • Oversee run-off of historical insurance programs (adjustments, collateral, charge backs)
    • Prepare data and provide analysis for insurance company audits and actuarial studies
    • Coordinate compliance activities at quarter and year end
    • Maintain internal Risk Management web page
    • Internal resource for Risk Management issues involving promotional and business events

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree
    • At least 5 years of risk management or insurance experience


    • Master's degree
    • At least 4 years of risk management or insurance experience


    • At least 8 years of risk management or insurance experience

    Additional Requirements

    • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

    Desired Skills

    • 5+ years of prior business experience, preferably inclusive of:
      • Insurance
      • Claims/Litigation
      • Risk Management
    • BA/BS degree required; insurance designations (Chartered Property/Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and/or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) desirable
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Exceptional interpersonal and analytical abilities including fully developed written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-motivated, independent, superior project management and problem-solving skills
    • Extensive knowledge of Risk Management Information Systems, implementation and data integrity issues, and use of system for data management and reporting capabilities
    • Knowledge of information system applications that provide the means to measure and evaluate the cost of risks
